THE TEST DRIVE MEME: MARCH - APRIL

THE TEST DRIVE MEME

SO YOU WANT TO JOIN THE CREEPY HOTEL BRIGADE.
Well, welcome potential apper! Here we have the handy dandy test drive meme so you can get a feel for how your character might react to the game setting. This post can also be used to cultivate some of those required sample threads for the application.

Feel free to play any scenario you so please. However please note that TDM threads cannot be used for Activity Checks (for existing players) and will not be considered game canon unless transposed comment for comment into logs in [community profile] checkingout. We also recommend avoiding playing the initial arrival, so that the intro log doesn't become repetitive and boring for you. Other than that, go wild.

Here's a few additional useful links:

BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS.
No time for losers, because we — have waffles and pancakes and crepes and delicate bowls of ripe bananas and juicy oranges. We have bacon and oatmeal and cereal and milk; we have coffee (that's really hot and will burn you quite spectacularly) and tea (that, on the other hand, is miserably cold and bland). And we have orange juice (that might just kill you)!

Basically, every component one needs to start the day off right. Which is good, because this is the only meal ever served in the hotel. So come one, come all — get it while it's hot and try to pick among seats amidst the crowded circular tables, or stand along the wall. Bemoan the lack of hashbrowns or fight over the last fork. Mix, mingle. Have "fun".

DON'T YOU LOVE MY TASTE IN MUSIC.
What starts as soft, subtle musical notes wafting out of unseen speakers?

Yeah, that quickly manifests into blaring, loud, aggressively high pitched notes — so distorted, and reverberating so magnificently in the main lobby that even those impenetrable windows rattle in their frames.

And what's more, there doesn't seem to be an off switch anywhere in sight. Good luck finding one.

GOING DOWN.
Right by the stairwell in the lobby is an old timey elevator, the sort that really ought to be manned by staff to insure that it's in decent working condition and won't kill you. But it's usually not. And usually doesn't run.

But today, your ears are treated to an oh-so pleasant ding, and the doors will slide open, offering a ride to the floor of your choosing. Finally, no more calf workouts on the stairs, right?

...well, you probably should have taken the stairs, because three seconds in the entire carriage shudders, screeches to a halt, and refuses to move.

Then the lights begin to flicker.

CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE.
Don't see a scenario that appeals to you here? Make up your own. Get crazy with it! Good luck getting outside.

WHATS UP HYDRA BRO.

[personal profile] ingrantitude 2015-03-31 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
[Ward ducks the knife and when he sees who's coming he's torn between absolute burning disgust - and something like amusement. With Coulson and his team here (almost in their entirety and what the heck was that about?) Of course it wouldn't be too long before this guy showed up.

At least it's not Pierce.]

...Hail Hydra.

[33 can't know this man is here. He can't know anything about it.]
infligere: (Deadly intent)

DOIN' GOOD FELLOW BRO

[personal profile] infligere 2015-03-31 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
[He snorted when the guy coming the other way managed to get out of the way of his knife. Impressive enough, but he would have much rather have it slice a little. Oh well, there was always next time.

And of course he knew this agent. The corner of his lip lifted as he swaggered down the hallway to retrieve his knife from the wall it had embedded in.]

Not something to say where ears could be wagging. Nip and tuck it, Agent.
ingrantitude: by <user name="easystreet"> (Default)

You have to app you realize this. Ward's putting together a posse.

[personal profile] ingrantitude 2015-03-31 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Does the command structure really apply in a hotel where we're stuck with a bunch of SHIELD agents?

[Do they know that rumlow is HYDRA?

Oh this could get very interesting. Very very interesting. The trick was keeping his people out of it. 33, Cashmere, ...Skye and her father...Fitz...]

I hope you don't expect me to salute you. How long have you been here?
infligere: (Aim)

Have to, huh? We need HYDRA husbands

[personal profile] infligere 2015-03-31 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Are we? I hadn't noticed.

[He had only taken stock of a few people here, but he had kept himself out of obvious sight for... certain reasons. He preferred to keep his skin attached to the connective tissue and muscle below it.

He reached out and grasped the handle of the knife and slowly eased it from the wall.]

I don't expect you to, since you're riding on coattails. Or have you given that up and actually joined the cause with two feet or still tip-toeing?
ingrantitude: by <user name="easystreet"> (Default)

You could be team free will tho brock. Ready to comply? ;3

[personal profile] ingrantitude 2015-03-31 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Of course.

[Can you really doubt this face?]

I collected Agent 33 didn't I? Whitehall's property? I would have had Bakshi too (...apparently.) but suddenly being dropped into another dimension makes it a bit difficult.

[He shrugs] Were you worried you were all by yourself.
infligere: (Well then)

Free will is overrated

[personal profile] infligere 2015-03-31 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
[He didn't bother to trust anyone who hadn't earned it from him. Besides, for everyone else, there was always a convenient ditch to leave their worthless corpses in, or it seemed like potential closets. He'd have to check the basement he thought to himself, see how easy it was to bury people down there.

Of course, this Agent just had to gloat about gibberish he had never heard of. This must have been some unrelated project of some kind. He'd never heard of any of these people, which didn't mean they weren't around, it just wasn't related to any work he had been apart of. Still useful information to have all the same.]

Considering you aren't STRIKE, nor someone I feel the need to count on, I am alone. Don't worry, I operate just fine that way.
ingrantitude: by <user name="easystreet"> (Default)

Exactly. 83. Compliance will be rewarded.

[personal profile] ingrantitude 2015-03-31 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Ward tilts his head and shrugs] What about Pierce?
infligere: (O rly)

Pfft, Rumlow plays by his own rules

[personal profile] infligere 2015-03-31 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, is he here? [He hummed softly and spun a knife around his palm.] At least I'll have someone reasonable to talk to.
ingrantitude: by <user name="easystreet"> (Default)

This is going to be fun.

[personal profile] ingrantitude 2015-03-31 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
[He tilts his head] Garrett used to say that he was a good soldier for the cause and you looked up to him. [If there was ever a man who had his head up another man's ass it would be Rumlow and fuckin' Pierce... he said while he pulled Ward in closer and tighter.]
infligere: (Call)

I can't tell if they'll get along or not

[personal profile] infligere 2015-03-31 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
[He considered Pierce an excellent politician who could make a lot of people uncomfortable and a lot of people see the good of their cause. Garrett was a soldier; Pierce ordered soldiers.]

He was my commander, and I took orders from him. You should know what that's like. [Garrett had that kid in the back pocket last he heard. Where was that old bastard anyway?] Garrett around?
ingrantitude: by <user name="easystreet"> (Default)

Me neither. All the more reason to explore this.

[personal profile] ingrantitude 2015-03-31 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
No. [Thank god. He can't decide if this is a good thing or a bad thing. He shrugs his shoulders and smiles.]

You could say we're both men without commanders at this point.
infligere: (Shooting the shit)

It will be awful regardless

[personal profile] infligere 2015-03-31 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
[So, no Pierce. No Garrett. No apparent other heads of HYDRA lurking around. He'd ask about Von Stucker, but that guy was like a rash on a good day.

It wasn't like rank mattered here, but he had no doubt served longer.]
So long as one man, woman or child believes in the cause, it remains alive wherever it is. The mission remains the same.

[personal profile] ingrantitude 2015-03-31 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Best to ally with both sides]

Cut off one head two more shall take it's place. There are people here who you could potentially recruit.

[Set him up, knock him down.

There's a way to prove that he's not dangerous and then...take Rumlow's reins.]

infligere: (Rough)

[personal profile] infligere 2015-03-31 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[The old saying, like the old salute had gone by the wayside in his mind. HYDRA was more than that; it was a way of life and everyone would come to appreciate it or die in the streets like they were supposed to.]

And I'm sure I'll recruit them when I decide that they would make worthwhile allies. I don't need your help in that.

[Of course that meant he would have to practice his people skills. Which mask was he going to bother to wear, huh?]

[personal profile] ingrantitude 2015-03-31 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course you don't, but strength in numbers has always been a staple of the organization.
infligere: (Your world is broken)

[personal profile] infligere 2015-04-01 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Huh, he didn't remember the young operatives being gifted with such a silver tongue of reason. He softened just slightly, recognizing that what he had heard might not fit with the man himself. They were still HYDRA regardless of how wishy-washy that could be.

He still eyed Ward.]
Agreed. However, I don't work with anyone that I don't have measure on personally. Take it or leave it, pup.
